Creating and practicing healthy habits is essential in our everyday lives. Through the emergence of new viruses and infections, ensuring healthy habits is vital to protect you, your family and your community. These simple but powerful habits can protect you against viruses and other pathogens that are common in South Africa and abroad.
- Wear your mask: Keep your mouth and nose covered at all times to minimise the spread of respiratory droplets.
- Practice social distancing: Stand 1.5 – 2 metres apart from the person next to you.
- Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based sanitiser that contains 70-95% alcohol.
- Coughing and sneezing etiquette: Turn away from people and do it into the crook of your elbow.
- Practise good food hygiene: Clean all food and food packaging before storing and clean surfaces thereafter.
- Clean cellphones and laptops regularly.
- Wipe down shopping baskets and trolleys before use.
- Banks: Clean the ATM keyboard with a disinfectant wipe before using it. When you are done, apply hand sanitiser.
